FAQs

What is an Easy Eco Swap?

I’m glad you asked! This is an umbrella term that covers all of my reusable wipes, kitchen roll, scrubbies, and breast pads (more products coming soon too!). I don’t just want them to look pretty (although that’s nice, too) – they all serve a purpose and to make it into this category, all items have to be :
a) EASY to use – if they’re not, then you won’t enjoy using them, and I want you to love them as much as I do!
b) ECO friendly – made using my low waste philosophy and/or made using scraps which would otherwise be wasted
c) SWAP – replacing a single use or otherwise un-eco-friendly item (think plastic sponges or baby wipes)
In addition to this criteria, I also make sure that all my easy eco swaps do the job of their single use counterpart to at least the same level of efficiency, if not better. I also ensure that they’re packaged responsibly; using recycled or recyclable card, paper tape and mailing bags – no plastic packaging!

What makes your clothes "cloth friendly"?

“Cloth Friendly” for me means that a) the clothes will fit over cloth nappies, and b) they’re cut and manufactured in a way that means as little as possible goes to waste.

All of my clothing (and indeed other items) are designed to be as eco-friendly as humanly possible. To ensure that I’m leaving as little carbon footprint as possible whilst making your items, I use the following techniques:
– I use a projector to cut patterns out, instead of traditional paper patterns – this means no paper waste!
– I use all fabrics as economically as possible – pattern pieces are placed as closely as can be to avoid unnecessary waste, and any waste created is often reused in other products
– waste fabric pieces which are large enough will be made into reusable face wipes or other eco friendly items
– waste fabric pieces which are not large enough to do this with are turned into stuffing for scrubbies (aka un-sponge) – COMING SOON!
– all orders are packed using either recycled and/or recyclable items – even my business cards are made from recycled cotton t shirts!
– your items will arrive wrapped in brown paper and gum paper tape, all of which can be recycled in your usual paper recycling

What is the 1m Challenge?

The 1m challenge is a really good way to make sure you get the most for your money when ordering clothing from Fox & Bobbin. When you order, you pick your choice of any of my available prints. For £70, you get 1m of your chosen print, plus any matching co-ordinates and notions needed, and the challenge is for me to get as many items out of that meter (in the sizes you specify) as is humanly possible. Any scraps that aren’t big enough to be made into clothing are then turned into other items such as reusable wipes and breast pads, and once I’m left with only tiny amounts of scrap, they’re used as stuffing in my reusable sponges, making them zero waste! I guarantee that you will receive £70 or more* worth of items in your 1m challenge, otherwise I will happily refund the difference or add in extra items to make it up. 1m challenge orders regularly go into the £80-90 price range, and sometimes into the triple figures!

*value based on RRP of items made, not including any rep discounts/sales.

Please note: due to the increased value of the 1m challege, it is exempt from rep codes/deals

WHAT IS PRE-LOVED; RE-LOVED ALL ABOUT?

Pre-Loved; Re-Loved is my new closed loop system for my clothing! When your littles have outgrown their Fox & Bobbin clothing, you can now send it back to me and in exchange you’ll get a code for money off your next purchase*. Once I’ve received the Pre-Loved items, I’ll make any repairs that need doing, launder and press them, photograph them and sell them on to someone else to love, and so on, and so on (see the loop?)… Once the clothing is too loved to be sold on again (we all know it happens eventually, although hopefully not for a while) it will be cut up to make things like wipes and stuffing for scrubbies – nothing will get wasted on my watch- I promise!

*up to 40% of RRP value, depending on condition of items. Not exchangable for cash.

How do Pre-Orders Work?

As a small business, I can only hold a certain amount of fabric stock at a time! All my fabrics are custom printed for me, and most of them are colour exclusives, which means you won’t be able to find the same exact print elsewhere.

The good news is that if your favourite print is out of stock, I can always order it back in again (even the retired prints!); the bad news is it might take a while to arrive – 8-12 weeks usually!

If you find yourself wishing I had a print in, you can head over to the Pre-Orders section in the menu and order your exact item and print. I’ll add it to my fabric order at the end of the month and let you know when it arrives (typically 6-10 weeks from end of month ordering). Once it’s here, I’ll also reconfirm your sizes (I know it’s a long time to wait and kids grow unexpectedly) by sending you an email. Once you’ve confirmed your size(s), I’ll get to work ASAP on your order.

*Pre-Orders are highly recommended for adults’ clothing and 1m Challenge, as these items take up more fabric by their nature

CAN I SEE A PRICE LIST?

Sure thing! Here is a list of all my products and prices, according to size:

What are your clothing sizes like?

Childrens’ clothing goes from 0-3 months up to Age 12. Women’s clothing has an inclusive range of XXS (which picks up after Age 12) up to 5XL!

I highly recommend measuring (if possible) to ensure your handmade clothing fits properly. Here are the measurements charts, which you can also find inside each clothing listing on the website, in the additional photos:

What's your current Turnaround Time?

Current turnaround time for in stock fabrics will be displayed in the top banner, next to the basket icon. Items ordered in “in stock” fabrics are still handmade to order, so this is usually between 2-6 weeks from ordering.

For information on Pre-Order turnaround times, please see below

My chosen item/print says "Out of Stock". Can I Still order it?

You can, BUT I’ll have to order the fabric in for you especially, which means a bit of a wait, I’m afraid. Please go to the Pre-Orders section in the menu, where you’ll be able to find all available items and prints in all sizes.

Pre-Ordering an item means your fabric will automatically be added to my next fabric order at the end of the month, and it will be custom printed just for you. Theres an 8-12 week wait time on this process, so I will re-confirm your sizings when the fabric arrives

Can I order your older prints?

Yes, you can! Unlike a lot of retailers, here you can always order my older prints, so there’s no need to order multiple sizes in your favourites, in case they go out of stock!

Once a new collection is released (twice per year), the older prints are “retired”. All that means is that once I’ve used up my in stock fabric, I won’t order it again unless it’s pre-ordered specifically. This means a lot less waste fabric lying around, but it also means you can get hold of those prints again and again.

If you’re after an older or out of stock print, please head over to the Pre-Orders section of the website, where all my past prints are available all the time!

*Please note Pre-Orders take 8-12 weeks to arrive on average, as the fabric is custom printed to order
